Heart of Muthesia
Heart of Muthesia is an exhibition series by Die Kette Moabit. Part of this series, the imaginative project Hotel Berlin by RønholtKurz feeds historic architectural sides within and around the Berlin landscape into a new architectural plan. The grand hotel as a space for semipublic living was the ground for this experiment, functioning as a container of styles and periods of the past, present, and future.
The talk with artist Veit Laurent Kurz invites Stanford students to experience an early afternoon together with local students from the Berlin University of the Arts. We gather inside our shared object of interest, which is the house itself, hosting today the H.G. Will Center. Veit Laurent Kurz’ site-visit unfolds the historical Haus Cramer to us. Exploring drawings, paintings, and visual material, we discuss his works from an unexpected angle. Introductions to each other are followed by shared (hi)stories of architectural, social, and artistic interest. We close the afternoon with a common lunch and open talks.
The Temporary Communities program fosters engagement with local students around a shared topic, which in this inaugural quarter is Haus Cramer itself.
