Stanford students who study abroad at the H.G. Will Center look forward to meeting and interacting with local students from Berlin universities.  If you are studying at a university in Berlin, you may enroll as an auditor (Gasthörer:in) in an academic course at Stanford in Berlin, participate in a cultural or social event in our temporary communities series or you can come over for a Basketball pick-up game with your Stanford peers.

Stanford in Berlin has a limited number of auditor spaces available in its courses for qualified students from Berlin universities and colleges.

All courses take place at the H.G. Will Center in Berlin Dahlem with a duration of approximately 10 weeks, due to Stanford’s quarter system. The language of instruction is English. Full participation is expected, i.e. all homework, presentations and seminar papers, reliable attendance, and participation in discussions. A graded certificate of participation can be issued.

Qualified students from Berlin universities are invited to send in a short application (curriculum vitae and short essay describing your interest) by email. Applications from early semesters are preferred. Please send your application directly to the lecturers, as listed in the course entry in the Stanford Bulletin. For a list of courses offered at Stanford in Berlin, search the Bulletin for subject code OSPBER and choose the applicable quarter (Autumn, Winter, or Spring). Temporary Communities Events
Temporary Communities is a series of events aimed at bringing together Stanford and Berlin students to foster new connections and engage in conversations. The events feature a variety of topics and range from (temporary) art exhibits to moderated discussions to community activities. They take place at the Stanford Center in Dahlem or at a relevant location somewhere in Berlin. Time for social mingling with some refreshments is always included, so temporary communities is an excellent forum to get to know new people.

Open Court Basketball
In some quarters, Stanford and FU Hochschulsport offer a weekly opportunity to play pick-up basketball at the Stanford Center. Look for the listing of “Open Court Basketball” in the summer semester catalog of the FU Hochschulsport.
